The Blast Furnaces at Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) have achieved remarkable production records in the first half (H1) of the current financial year (FY25). Blast Furnace-1 produced 483,789 tons of hot metal, while Blast Furnace-5 achieved an impressive 1,512,543 tons, marking their best performances from April to September, 2024.

The state-of-the-art Hot Strip Mill-2 also excelled, rolling 1,264,792 tons of HR coils during the same period, representing an 8.9 per cent increase compared to the corresponding period last year (CPLY).

In September 2024, RSP set new benchmarks by producing 362,279 tons of hot metal and 343,186 tons of crude steel, marking its best September performance to date. On September 11, the two operational furnaces together produced a record 13,375 tons of hot metal in a single day.

Besides, the ERW Pipe Plant achieved a new single-day production record of 607 tons of pipes on September 23.

RSP also recorded its best specific water consumption rate of 2.83 cubic metres per ton of crude steel (m³/tcs) in September 2024, reaffirming its commitment to sustainability through ongoing projects under its Zero Liquid Discharge mission.
