A two-day Bidders Conference for the New Steel Melting Shop (SMS) at Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) took place from September 20 to 21, at the Rourkela Club. The event, aimed at enhancing RSP’s steel-making capacity, gathered leading engineering firms and consultants from across the nation and internationally to discuss innovative ideas and latest trends in steel production.
Atanu Bhowmick, Director In-Charge (DIC) of RSP, served as the Chief Guest during the concluding session. He praised the Projects Department for organizing the conference, highlighting its importance in fostering collaboration among top engineering firms to design the upcoming state-of-the-art facility. “This conference will help us understand each other’s requirements and bridge the gap in the long run. The suggestions have been noted, and we are deliberating on the key points that emerged during the sessions,” Bhowmick stated.
In his address, SR Suryawanshi, ED (Works), emphasized the significance of meticulous planning and strategic direction for the project’s success. He urged all participants to formulate the best strategies for moving forward.
The conference commenced with an inaugural session led by Tarun Misra, ED (HR), on September 20. Participants engaged in a site visit, gaining valuable insights into RSP’s current operations and future developmental prospects. Technical sessions featured presentations from renowned engineering firms, including MN Dastur, Danieli, Primetals, and SMS Group, showcasing advanced technologies that will play a crucial role in the New SMS.
The event concluded with a summary presentation by Messrs MN Dastur Pvt Ltd, encapsulating the key discussions and insights gathered over the two days. A film detailing the journey of RSP’s Projects Department was also screened during the inaugural session, providing attendees with a deeper understanding of the plant’s vision and goals.
