New Delhi, Feb 27
The Ministry of Ayush has helped over eight lakh pilgrims stay healthy during the Maha Kumbh Mela by providing medical care, yoga sessions, and wellness programs. Special mobile health units and OPD centers were set up to ensure that devotees could participate in the event without health worries, especially during the sacred Mahashivratri bath.
Medical Care for Everyone
To provide continuous healthcare, 20 OPD centers were set up, with over 90 doctors and 150 healthcare workers working day and night. These teams made sure that kalpvasis (long-stay devotees) and saints received the medical care they needed.
According to Dr. Akhilesh Kumar Singh, the officer in charge of Ayush at the Kumbh Mela, this effort shows that more people trust traditional Indian medicine. Devotees also benefited from yoga sessions led by experts from the Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga (MDNIY), which helped improve their physical and mental well-being.
Easy Access to Health and Wellness
To make health services available to all, three Ayush Convention Halls were set up in different parts of the Mela. These halls hosted daily yoga and wellness sessions, teaching people how to stay healthy and prevent diseases. Special medical check-ups were also conducted for saints in important Akharas like Juna, Anand, Niranjani, and Vaishnav Akharas.
Mobile health units moved around the Mela area, distributing medicines and providing check-ups. Extra medical teams were stationed at different locations to ensure every pilgrim received the necessary care.
Free Health Kits and Medicinal Plants
The All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA) distributed 10,000 Ayush Raksha kits, which contained Ayurvedic medicines and wellness products. A week-long health camp also helped 15,000 devotees stay healthy during the event.
To promote natural healing, the National Medicinal Plants Board (NMPB) gave away 25,000 medicinal plants, including Tulsi, Ashwagandha, Shatavari, Neem, Amla, and Curry Leaf. These plants can be used in daily life to boost health and immunity.
A Healthy and Safe Spiritual Journey
The Maha Kumbh Mela is not just about spirituality—it is also a physically demanding journey. The Ministry of Ayush has made sure that pilgrims stay healthy by providing proper medical care, yoga, and wellness support, making their spiritual experience safe and stress-free.
