An awareness programme focusing on “Women’s Health and Hygiene” was held recently at the Occupational Health and Safety Centre (OHSC) of Rourkela Steel Plant. The event was graced by Dr. Pratibha Sarangi, Additional Chief Medical Officer (M&HS), who served as the guest speaker.

The programme saw the participation of 31 women employees from various units of the plant, alongside Dr. Surendra Kumar, Deputy CMO, and other doctors and staff from OHSC.

Dr. Sarangi emphasized the critical role of women’s health, particularly considering the multifaceted responsibilities of working women.

Her presentation covered essential topics including menstrual health and hygiene, nutrition during pregnancy, lactation and menopause, as well as post-menopausal care.

Dr. Sarangi encouraged attendees to take proactive measures to enhance their health and well-being, ultimately leading to more fulfilling lives.

Following the technical session, an open house discussion provided a platform for participants to engage actively, clarifying doubts and seeking solutions to their health-related queries.

Dr. Surendra Kumar welcomed the participants and highlighted the various activities undertaken by OHSC, while KC Pradhan, Occupational Hygiene Technician, coordinated the event.
