PARADEEP, NOV 18
As part of the ongoing Kalinga Baliyatra Mahotsav at Biju Maidan, Paradeep, ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India (AM/NS India) set up a stall that was inaugurated by J Sonal, Collector & District Magistrate of Jagatsinghpur, in the presence of Niranjan Behera, Additional District Magistrate of Paradeep, and Suresha G, Executive Director of Odisha Operations, AM/NS India, along with other distinguished guests.
As part of its ongoing efforts to empower local women and promote sustainable livelihoods, the CSR wing of AM/NS India has launched a unique initiative to showcase products created by various Self-Help Groups (SHGs) from Paradeep. The stall has attracted a large number of visitors, who have been purchasing a range of handmade products, including appliqué work, millet-based products, processed dry foods, terracotta pots, and handcrafted toys.
The participating SHG groups include Jagruti Variety Producers from Nuagarh, Nilamadhab Producers Group and Kohinoor Producers Group from Baldia, Maa Mangala SHG from Chakradharpur, Maa Bajrabudhi Variety Producers Group from Barei, and Trahi Achyuta SHG from Bhutumundai. These groups have been given a platform to showcase their products and achievements, highlighting the dedication and skill of local women.
Visitors and dignitaries have praised AM/NS India’s CSR initiatives, recognizing the company’s commitment to promoting sustainable livelihoods and empowering women through these SHG groups.
On the occasion, Suresha G expressed, “We are proud to be associated with Odisha’s rich cultural heritage. This traditional festival brings us immense joy, and we are fully committed to the development of the state and the upliftment of local women.”
