The largest 30,000 MW (30 GW) renewable energy facility in the world, located in Khavda, Gujarat, has seen the operationalization of its first 250 MW wind capacity, according to Adani Green Energy Limited (AGEL) on Wednesday.

With the completion of this milestone, the Khavda plant has 2,250 MW of cumulative capacity put into service, solidifying AGEL’s position as the largest operator in India with 11,184 MW of operating portfolio.

With wind speeds of up to 8 m/s, Kahavda boasts some of India’s top wind resources, making it a prime place to generate wind power. The largest renewable energy (RE) firm in India claims that the Khavda Renewable Energy plant is outfitted with one of the biggest and most potent onshore wind turbine generators (WTG) in the world, with a capacity of 5.2 MW apiece.

With a rotor diameter of 160 meters and a tip height of 200 meters, the 5.2 MW turbine is comparable to the Statue of Unity, which is situated in Gujarat and is the highest structure in the world.

The 5.2 MW WTGs installed at Khavda are produced at Adani New Industries Limited’s (ANIL) integrated manufacturing ecosystem, which is ideally situated close to the Mundra port and uses top German technology.
AGEL has turned the desolate wastes of Khavda into a center for reasonably priced, clean energy. 16.1 million homes may be powered annually by the electricity produced by the Khavda RE plant.

Khavda, home to the largest renewable energy plant in the world, is a shining example of how to advance India’s sustainable development and the worldwide decarbonization movement.

The world’s largest RE site, Khavda in Gujarat, was visited by Bhutan’s King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck and Prime Minister Dasho Tshering Tobgay on Tuesday.

The Adani Group Chairman, Gautam Adani, expressed his sincere gratitude to them for coming to the Mundra Port and Khavda RE plant.

Within a year of construction beginning, the world’s largest renewable energy plant in Khavda commissioned its first 2 GW, setting a record.

The growing potential of renewable energy has led Adani Green Energy to increase its aim for FY 2029–2030 from 45 GW to 50 GW.

It increased by 2.8 GW in the fiscal FY24, accounting for 15% of India’s total increase in renewable capacity.
