India is experiencing a significant shift in the workplace due to the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI), with a new report showing that 94% of professionals in the country believe mastering AI skills will boost their career growth.
The report, by Emeritus, a leader in professional education, highlights how AI is reshaping careers across India. It reveals that Indian professionals are leading the world in adopting AI technologies.
Based on a survey of over 6,000 respondents from 18 countries, the report shows that 96% of Indian professionals are using AI and generative AI tools at work, which is much higher than the 81% in the US and 84% in the UK.
As a result, 95% of Indian workers report increased productivity due to these technologies, surpassing the global average. Ashwin Damera, CEO and Co-Founder of Emeritus, commented that India’s workforce is not only adapting to AI but is actively using it to shape the future of work.
The report found that 90% of Indian professionals consider AI and generative AI essential for future career success, and 94% believe AI skills are crucial for advancing in their careers and diversifying into new industries. This is well above the global average of 87%.
Machine learning is also one of the top five most sought-after skills in India, with Indian professionals being twice as likely to focus on it compared to their global peers. Other key skills include AI development, mastering emerging technologies, effective communication, machine learning, and strategic leadership.
The report identifies four major trends in how Indian professionals are engaging with AI: higher adoption of AI tools, AI and generative AI as a top priority for skills development, AI’s transformative impact on workplaces, and concerns about AI-driven job displacement.
