Garib Kalyan

05 JUN 2025, New Delhi

On completing 11 years in office, Prime Minister Narendra Modi reaffirmed his government’s strong commitment to Garib Kalyan—the welfare of the poor. He said the NDA Government has always focused on seva (service), sushasan (good governance), and samaveshi vikas (inclusive development).

Highlighting the achievements over the last decade, the PM shared that over 25 crore people have come out of poverty thanks to various welfare initiatives. Flagship schemes like PM Awas Yojana (for housing), PM Ujjwala Yojana (for free LPG), Jan Dhan Yojana (for banking), and Ayushman Bharat (for health insurance) have brought real change in the lives of the poor.

He also stressed the importance of Direct Benefit Transfers (DBT), digital inclusion, and rural infrastructure in ensuring that every benefit reaches the people directly, without middlemen. These efforts have helped create a system that is transparent, fast, and inclusive.

On the occasion of World Environment Day (June 5), PM Modi also spoke about the importance of protecting our planet. He encouraged citizens to support the campaign “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam”—planting a tree in honor of one’s mother—as a way of showing love and contributing to a greener Earth.

The Prime Minister appreciated the work of all those at the grassroots level who are making India cleaner and greener. He called on every citizen to take small but meaningful actions, like planting trees, to protect nature and secure a better future for the next generations.

He summed it up by saying, “Together, by helping people and protecting the environment, we can build a strong, fair, and self-reliant India where everyone lives with dignity.”
