Vedanta Aluminium Opens Martial Arts Training Centre

JHARSUGUDA, Mar 1

Vedanta Aluminium, India’s largest aluminium producer, has launched the Vedanta Martial Arts Training Centre in Jharsuguda to empower local youth. The centre will provide professional training in karate and judo, helping young people learn self-defence, stay fit, and compete in sports at state, national, and international levels.

The facility will focus on both physical strength and mental resilience, preparing students for careers in sports, coaching, and defence services. The initiative aims to instill confidence, discipline, and perseverance among young athletes, giving them opportunities to excel.

The launch event was attended by several notable guests, including:

  • Prabeer Kumar Nayak, Chief Development Officer, Jharsuguda
  • Jeebananda Mohanty, Vice President, District Hockey Association, Odisha
  • Vivekananda Mishra, Chief Advisor, National Karate Foundation, Jharsuguda

Sunil Gupta, Chief Operating Officer, Vedanta Aluminium, said, “We are committed to developing sports in Odisha. This training centre will provide world-class opportunities for young athletes to grow, compete, and succeed in life.”

Jeebananda Mohanty praised the initiative, saying, “This centre will help young athletes in Jharsuguda and showcase their talent at national and international levels.”

Susanta Gupta, Head Coach, added, “Martial arts teach more than just self-defence. They build character, perseverance, and a spirit of excellence. We aim to train athletes who will make Jharsuguda proud on the global stage.”
