At a time when the government is stepping up its support for domestic telecom equipment design and manufacture, homegrown Optiemus Electronics announced on Tuesday that it is entering the telecom equipment manufacturing space alongside Tejas Networks of the Tata Group as a manufacturing partner.

From its Noida manufacturing plant, Optiemus collaborates with Tejas Networks as a manufacturing partner for a comprehensive range of telecom equipment products, including 4G base band units, remote radio heads, ONTs, ONUs, broadband switches, and routers.

“We are excited to enter the expanding telecom equipment manufacturing industry by expanding our manufacturing capabilities,” stated A Gururaj, MD of Optiemus Electronics.

The government claims that telecom equipment made in India is currently sold to more than 100 nations. Over $18.2 billion worth of telecom services and equipment were exported by the nation last year.

Despite intense international competition, a number of domestic telecom companies have established themselves in Western countries, notably the US.

Over the past ten years, Tejas Networks has developed into a reliable and powerful partner in the Indian telecom industry.

Tejas Networks Chief Supply Chain Officer V Sembian stated, “Optiemus’ addition as one of our manufacturing partners will provide a boost to the domestic manufacturing of telecom products in our continuous pursuit of Atmanirbhar Bharat.”

In Noida, Optiemus operates two production facilities. Tejas Networks creates and produces high-performance wireline and wireless networking solutions for utilities, defense, governmental, and telecommunications service providers in more than 75 countries.

According to a recent announcement from the Center, sales of telecom equipment manufacturing have exceeded Rs 50,000 crore through the production-linked incentive (PLI) plan, resulting in the creation of over 17,800 direct jobs and numerous indirect ones.

According to the Ministry of Communications, the output of telecom equipment surpassed the Rs 50,000 crore milestone, with exports coming in at roughly Rs 10,500 crore.
