The National Career Service (NCS) portal of the Central government connects job searchers with career opportunities in various sectors and currently has over 20 lakh active job postings.
According to the government, there are currently job openings on the NCS Portal in a number of industries, including finance and insurance (14.7 lakh), operations and support (1.08 lakh), and other service activities (0.75 lakh).
Other industries with employment available are manufacturing (0.71 lakh), transportation and storage (0.59 lakh), education (0.43 lakh), wholesale and retail (0.25 lakh), IT and communication (0.58 lakh), and health (0.2 lakh), among others.
According to the Ministry, “this varied range of openings reflects the broad spectrum of employment needs and industry demands across the country.”
Candidates with educational backgrounds up to Class 12, ITIs, and diploma holders are suitable for the current positions.
The Ministry stated that people with advanced degrees or other specialized credentials can also apply for specialized positions.
With employment opportunities being posted through a variety of methods, such as employer direct reporting, job fairs, and API connectivity with many private job portals, the Ministry of Labour and Employment’s NCS site has emerged as a valuable resource for job searchers.
The Ministry stated that in order to give companies and job seekers more features and benefits, it is striving to upgrade the NCS portal to NCS 2.0 with cutting-edge technologies, including AI.
The data presented to Parliament this week indicates that over the past five years, India’s young unemployment rate, namely for those between the ages of 15 and 29, has been gradually decreasing.
The percentage has decreased from 17.8% in 2017–18 to 10% in 2023–2024.
With a federal budget of Rs 2 lakh crore, the government unveiled a package of five projects and initiatives in the Budget 2024–25 to help 4.1 crore youngsters have access to employment, skill development, and other opportunities during a five-year period.
