Together with NHPC Renewable Energy Limited (NHPC-REL), Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL) launched a nationwide initiative on Thursday to install rooftop solar installations on government buildings.
By December 2025, this program, which is a part of the large-scale PM Surya Ghar Yojna Scheme, intends to solarize all government-owned buildings to 100%.
Deepesh Nanda, CEO and MD of TPREL, a division of Tata Power Company Limited, stated, “By leveraging our combined strengths, we are confident in achieving our goal of 100% solarization by 2025, setting a benchmark for renewable energy projects in the country.”
The rooftop solar projects will be led by NHPC Limited, a scheme implementing partner (SIP) designated by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), and will be executed by NHPC-REL, the company’s wholly-owned subsidiary.
Together, TPREL and NHPC-REL have the potential to significantly advance India’s renewable energy goals and establish new benchmarks for similar efforts in the future.
“RP Goyal, CMD, NHPC, stated that this initiative will not only help us meet our solarization targets but also significantly reduce the carbon footprint of government buildings.”
The strategic partnership will support the implementation of rooftop solar initiatives in Union Territories, states, and Central Ministries.
