Piyush Goyal meets WTO Chief

According to an official statement released on Monday, WTO Director-General Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala and Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal conducted a critical meeting to talk about the continuing negotiations and the progress made since the global trade organization’s 13th Ministerial Conference.

The discussion emphasized India’s dedication to guaranteeing free and equitable trade among member countries and to attaining just and significant trade results.

In Geneva, the minister also called a meeting of India’s WTO delegation, which included senior officials from the Department of Commerce and the country’s ambassador and permanent representative. They reinforced India’s strategic approach to international trade by talking about important topics that are either being debated or are at different stages of negotiation in the WTO.

Goyal also had meetings with influential people in the business world and possible investors, such as MSC Cargo officials. With the intention of luring capital and cultivating alliances to assist India’s expansion and development, they talked about prospective joint ventures and investment prospects in a range of industries.

Additionally, the Minister met with top Zurich Airport executives, including Josef Felder, the Chairman of the Board of Directors. They looked at ways to work together to improve airport facilities and advance ancillary aviation services in India. The talks focused on utilizing technologies and best practices to dramatically enhance the Indian aviation industry.

The Minister conversed with well-known Zurich-based Indian diasporans as well. He urged them to make investments in India while recognizing their significant contributions to the Swiss economy and Indo-Swiss relations. He emphasized the new India-EFTA TEPA as well as the wealth of opportunities in India.
