Dr Jitendra Singh, Minister of State for Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, will launch the special campaign for effective redressal of family pensioners’ grievances in New Delhi on Monday.

The Department of Pension and Pensioners’ Welfare (DOPPW), as part of its 100 Days Action Plan, has undertaken a month-long special campaign for effective redressal of Family Pensioners’ Grievances during the period July 1-31 in which 46 Ministries/Departments will be participating. This Special campaign seeks a substantial reduction in the pendency of family pension grievances.

On Monday, in New Delhi, the special campaign for the proper redressal of grievances of family pensioners will be launched by Dr. Jitendra Singh, Minister of State for Personnel, Public Grievances, and Pensions.

46 Ministries/Departments will be taking part in a month-long special campaign for the successful redressal of family pensioners’ grievances, which is being organized by the Department of Pension and Pensioners’ Welfare (DOPPW) as part of its 100 Days Action Plan. A significant decrease in the number of family pension grievances pending is the goal of this special campaign.

This event will be attended by representatives from all Pension Disbursing Banks, Pensioners’ Welfare Associations, Nodal Public Grievance Officers of 46 Ministries/Departments, DG BSF, Controller General of Accounts, Deputy Managing Director State Bank of India, and Secretaries of Pension and Pensioners Welfare, Ex-Servicemen’s Welfare, and DG BSF.

Currently, the Centralized Pension Grievance and Redress System (CPENGRAMS) receives about 90,000 case registrations annually. The applicant may register the concerns directly on the portal (URL:www.pgportal.gov.in/PENSION/) or through DOPPW upon receipt of the necessary information via email, postal mail, or the toll-free number 1800-11-1960.

Family pension grievance cases make up roughly 20–25 per centof all grievance proceedings. Women pensioners make up a significant portion of the complaints filed by Family Pensioners. The Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances & Pensions said in a statement that the grievances pertaining to family pensions that would be addressed in the Special Campaign have been narrowed down from the grievances filed on the CPENGRAMS Portal.

As of June 15, 2024, there were 1891 family pension-related grievances against 46 Ministries/Departments/Organizations that needed to be addressed throughout the campaign. Most of the complaints are filed under MHA on behalf of pensioners from the Defense Department, the Railways, and the CAPFs. A sizable portion are also bank-related problems.

“DOPPW will oversee and support the relevant administrative Ministry, Department, or Organization in order to effectively handle grievances using a mission-mode approach.

Success stories will be shared by Ministries/Departments via PIB announcements and tweets. For the campaign’s success, DoPPW devised the hashtag #SpecialCampaignFamilyPension, the ministry continued.
