The state government anticipates creating 40,000 jobs with the Rs 25,000 crore in investments already pledged for the six nodes of the ambitious Uttar Pradesh Defence Industrial Corridor (UPDIC) project.
Up to 154 MoUs have been signed for projects to be undertaken under the Uttar Pradesh Expressways Industrial Development Authority (UPEIDA), according to officials from the organization. Of these, 129 are for industrial ventures and 25 are for institutional initiatives.
Agra, Aligarh, Lucknow, Kanpur, Chitrakoot, and Jhansi are the six locations of the Defence Industrial Corridor’s nodes.
Currently, 87 more MoUs are being assessed. 42 industrial organizations have been granted over 700 hectares of the 1,600 hectares of land that UPEIDA has bought.
The goal of the ambitious Uttar Pradesh Defence Industrial Corridor (UP DIC) is to encourage self-sufficiency in India’s aerospace and defense industry while lowering dependency on outside assistance.
