According to the Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC)’s most recent preliminary payroll statistics, which was made public on Wednesday, 23.05 lakh new hires were made in May, representing a 14% increase in net registrations over the same month the previous year.
According to the Labour Ministry, up to 20,110 new businesses were added to the ESI Scheme’s social security coverage in May, providing social insurance to a greater number of workers.
According to the data, 11.15 lakh employees, or around 48.37 percent of all registrations, are under the age of 25, out of the 23.05 lakh new employees hired during the month.
The payroll data’s gender-based analysis shows that 4.47 lakh female members were enrolled net in May.
Additionally, during the month, 60 transgender employees registered under the ESI Scheme.
16.47 lakh new workers were hired in April, with nearly half of them being young people under 25. About 18,490 new establishments were included in the ESI Scheme’s social security coverage. The payroll data’s gender-based analysis shows that there were 3.38 lakh female members net enrolled. In addition, 53 transsexual workers registered as part of the ESI Plan.
