The Center said on Thursday that more workers will have access to social security thanks to the enrollment of 21.67 lakh new workers under the ESIC program in June.
According to the year-over-year (YoY) research, net registrations increased by 7% from June 2023 to that date.
According to ESIC’s (Employees’ State Insurance Corporation) provisional payroll data, 10.58 lakh young workers under the age of 25 are considered new registrations.
13,483 new establishments were established under the ESIC plan in June, according to the data.
As per the government, “it is evident from the data that 10.58 lakh employees, or approximately 49% of all registrations, are under the age of 25 years, out of the total 21.67 lakh employees added during the month.”
According to a gender-specific review of the payroll data, 4.32 lakh female members were enrolled in June.
In addition, a total of 55 transgender workers enrolled for the ESI program in June, “demonstrating the dedication of ESIC to providing benefits to all segments of the community.”
23.05 lakh new workers joined the ESIC scheme in May, representing a 14% increase in net registrations over the same month the previous year.
According to the data, 11.15 lakh employees, or around 48.37 percent of all registrations, are under the age of 25, out of the 23.05 lakh employees added during the month.
In May, there were 4.47 lakh female members enrolled overall. 16.47 lakh new workers were hired in April, with nearly half of them being young people under 25.
